Rights Education Development Centre (READ) is a registered volunteer, secular, non-profit organization established in 2001, working for children, adolescents, women, textile workers and Interstate Migrant workers. it works with the objective to create a society where every individual gets the Right to Life and Dignity and also to achieve bring social and economical changes in the most marginalised communities.We are in urgent need to adopt measures to protect the poorest and most vulnerable people if COVID-19 containment and relief measures prove inadequate. The lockdown has already disproportionately hurt marginalized and vulnerable communities due to loss of livelihood and lack of food, shelter, health, and other basic needs. We as volunteer association have a responsibility to protect the health and well-being of the community. We work in the community to held hands and rend support in all situations and focus to create better living conditions.In such situations, READ initaited the support to most vulnerable families by identifying their condition and providing relief support to them to create better livelihood. Till now we have distributed the dry ration to 180 villages with the total beneficiaries of 4104 families of daily wages and textile workers and around 700 families of Inter-state migrant workers in Erode, Tirupur and Namakal Districts of Tamil Nadu. Still the people are struggling even after partial lockdown and people's lives remaining the same. So we are planning to support 200 families who are severly struggling with threats of poverty with dry ration of 10kg rice, 1kg Dal, 1liter Edible oil, 1kg wheat/Ragi flour, 1kg Rava, grains and malasa items with sanitary napkins. This total kit which costs rupees 1100 per family.We feel, this small amount of help may change many family's livelihood and all these are possible with the support you.
