Support children facing violence during the COVID-19 outbreak
As the COVID-19 lockdown continues, we at CSJ are growing more concerned about reports of increasing child abuse and violence in homes. One such child who reached out to us, made a 15-second call late at night, saying only 'Papa maar rahe hain' (father is hitting me). We have since been working with him and his family to stop the violence inside their home.We are collaborating with Childline (1098) to reach out to more such children and caregivers facing violence inside homes, without access to services that can help them get out of the situation. We are doing telephonic counselling for children, women and families, working with institutions that house children, partnering with legal aid organisations and starting mental health support circles for front-line workers. We need your support to sustain these efforts through this lockdown and even beyond because social distancing will become a reality of our lives. Children and women in poor communities will be the worst hit from this crisis and will continue to bear the brunt of the serious impact. We all need to help them cope with the brutal effect of this crisis.Help us reach our goal so we can reach out to more children and families in abusive situations.
