Astitva means identity in Hindi. Astitva is a community based organization that was established in May 2008 in South East Dehradun. Astitva strives to bring about gender equality and end gender based violence in its community. This is done by empowering women and youth through workshops, education, vocational skills trainings, job placements, assistance in starting businesses, rights advocacy and support services such as childcare and health services.
1. Recognised as an official service provider by state government for Domestic violence survivors
2.Took the lead in setting up the Uttarakhand Stop Violence Against Women Network which facilitated the coming together of many women’s groups, youth groups, civil society organisations and others to provide a strong platform for advocacy and awareness regarding violence against women
3.Three Astitva staff allowed to offically sit and provide legal aid at District court to women and girl violence survivors three days a week (Under the District Legal Service Authority)
