Fight Against COVID 19 with Handwash Campaign with Habitat for Humanity

Since 1983, Habitat for Humanity India has supported 33 million people in India to build or improve their homes, to provide them with access to sanitation and provide humanitarian aid support in the aftermath of disasters.Habitat believes that the right to decent shelter is a fundamental right of each and every citizen and is committed to create a world where everyone has a decent place to live. We also believe that everyone should have access to sanitation, hygiene and safe water at home.Over the last 4 years, Habitat India has organised ‘Hand-wash Campaigns’ across the country to initiate a conversation around safe hygiene habits among children, youth, adults and senior citizens to reduce the risk of water-borne diseases. This campaign enabled us to reach out to more than 10.54 million people across India with support from 104 partner organisations.Today the outbreak of COVID19 (coronavirus) has caused a global health emergency. WHO (World Health Organisation) recommends that we regularly and thoroughly clean our hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water. Hand-washing is a simple yet an effective and a lifesaving habit.  Habitat for Humanity aims to raise awareness on handwash and healthy hygiene habits to protect the communities we serve at the grass root level enabling them build resilience and equipping them with the right knowledge to protect themselves and their families. We will also distribute a ‘Habitat Hygiene Kit’ consisting of a mask, soap, hand sanitizer, instructional material on hand wash and other personal hygiene items. We are raising resources to support vulnerable people and communities during these testing times. Keeping in view the guidelines released by the Central Government and State Governments, we will not be organising any mass gatherings. As much as we wish to be on ground to help and protect the communities, we understand the sensitive situation on ground. The distribution of Habitat Hygiene Kits will be done door to door via community workers, health workers in consultation with the authorities at the district level. In Maharashtra, Habitat for Humanity India will be working in partnership with the state government in the fight against COVID-19. Donate Now to Habitat for Humanity India.  Our collective action can save lives.Donations made to Habitat for Humanity India are eligible for Tax Exemption under Section 80G.  Habitat for Humanity India has been awarded with 1A – the highest rating by CRISIL. COVID-19 is now notified as a disaster. “Funds may now be spent for various activities related to COVID-19 under item nos.
